Class Descriptions
Dance with Me (18mo-2yo) - this is our parent participation class geared toward our newly walking friends. Dancers will explore movement, sound, and rhythm with their adult participant in a fun and engaging setting.
Creative Movement (2-4yo)- this class is an introduction to dance by exploring movement through music, prop play, and dance activities.
Pre Ballet/Tap (3-4yo) - this introductory dance class prepares preschool aged dancers for a ballet and tap education. Dancers focus on rhythm, alignment, and introductory ballet and tap steps.
Tumble Tots (3-5yo) - this introductory acrobatic class prepares our preschool aged dancers for our Acro 101 class when they turn 6 years old. Our tumble tots will be introduced to strength and flexibility exercises while also incorporating simple dance movements.
Kinder Ballet/Tap (5-6yo) - this class in a more in depth introduction to ballet and tap technique. Dancers start implementing musicality, alignment, turn-out, and movement in multiple directions.
Kinder Hip Hop (5-6yo) - this introductory hip hop class will have dancers learning the foundational hip hop concepts such as footwork and finding rhythm in their bodies.
Acro 101 (6yo+) - this is an introductory class to acrobatic dance technique. Dancers will learn foundational stretches, strength exercises, body positions, and beginner tricks. (New students will NOT be allowed to register mid-session)
Acro 102 (6yo+) - this introductory class is a continuation of our Acro 101 class. Dancers will continue to practice skills from the 101 class while gaining the necessary strength needed to progress to the Level 1 Acro class.
Level 1 Ballet (6yo+) - this class begins to introduce the standard structure of a classical ballet class. Dancers will start to build upon the foundation of ballet technique from barre work, to center, and then across the floor.
Level 1 Jazz (6yo+) - this is an introductory jazz class. Dancers will learn to work in parallel, while growing in musicality knowledge, and traveling in different ways across the floor. Basic dance steps like the Lindy, chassé, isolations, piqué turns and more will be learned.
Level 1 Tap (6yo+) - this is an introductory tap class where dancers will learn about rhythm while being introduced to the basic steps of tap technique. Dancers will learn basic rhythms like shuffle (and variations), flap (and variations), paradiddle, buffalo, and more.
Level 1 Hip Hop (6yo+) - this class starts to build upon the hip hop dance foundation. Dancers focus on isolations, musicality, and use of different levels.
Level 1 Acro (6yo+) - this is an extension of the Acro 101 class to acrobatic dance technique. Dancers will progress upon the skills learned in the introductory class. (Pre-Requisite: Acro 101/Acro 102 or teacher assessment)
Beg/Int Lyrical (at least 1 year of ballet) - this lyrical class will have dancers focus on movement that expresses emotion while reacting to music. Dancers will use the foundations from ballet technique to learn choreography.
Acro Strength and Stretch (6yo+) - this class is designed for acro students that need more focus on the strength or muscle flexibility they need to be able to obtain certain acro skill goals. Dancers will work on specific exercises to strengthen properly and also lengthen necessary muscles. (Recommended: current acro students)
Level 2 Ballet (by placement) - this is an intermediate class that will have students focusing on further ballet technique. Dancers will begin class in a standard ballet format including barre and center work.
Level 2 Tap (by placement) - this is an intermediate class where tap dancers will begin learning and practicing tap rhythms in combinations. Dancers may learn about different tempos, dynamics and syncopations while also discovering more tap skills.
Level 2 Jazz (by placement) - this is an intermediate jazz class that will have the students focusing on a whole body approach to jazz technique. Dancers practice a variety of body rhythms and intermediate jazz movement.
Level 2 Hip Hop (by placement) - dancers are introduced to technique including popping and locking while also implementing musicality through intermediate movement combinations.
Level 2 Acro (by placement) - this intermediate acrobatic dance class will progress from beginning skills by introducing variations and new limbering skills. (Pre-requisite: Level 1 Acro or teacher assessment)
Level 3 Ballet (by placement) - this is a continuation of intermediate ballet technique that will have students learning more intermediate ballet terminology and movement combinations. Dancers will begin class in a standard ballet format including barre and center work.
Level 3 Tap (by placement) - this intermediate to advanced tap class will have our dancers learning complex rhythms such as triplets and riffs. Dancers will also start learning advanced tap steps such as the time step and turning maxi fords.
Level 3 Jazz (by placement) - this is a continuation of intermediate jazz technique that will have the students focusing on a whole body approach to jazz technique. Dancers practice a variety of body rhythms and intermediate movement combinations.
Level 3 Acro (by placement) - this advanced acrobatic dance class will start to introduce advanced skills such as walkover variations, aerials, and more. (Pre-requisite: Level 2 Acro or teacher assessment)
Pre Pointe (11yr+) - this class is geared toward dancers that have ballet training experience that would like to pursue pointe work. Dancers are evaluated during the class for pointe readiness while working on pointe specific exercises that build strength and flexibility.
Pointe I (11yr+) - this class is the introductory pointe class where dancers begin to work in their new pointe shoes. Exercises begin at the barre to encourage proper alignment and movement within the shoes to avoid injury. (Pre-requisite: Pre Pointe or teacher assessment)
PEAK Experience Hip Hop (Advanced Middle/High School dancers) - this class is designed for teenaged dancers looking to increase their knowledge of hip hop dance technique in order to further their dance team skills.
PEAK Experience Jazz/Turns/Leaps (Advanced Middle/High School dancers) - this class is designed for teenaged dancers looking to increase their knowledge of jazz dance technique in order to further their dance team skills. Dancers will also train skills necessary for dance team try outs or choreography.
Adult Ballet I (18yo+) - this class is designed for adults wishing to begin or continue ballet training. Adult dancers will learn basic ballet steps in a classical ballet class structure. (NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED)
Adult Ballet II (18yo+ and by placement) - this class is a continuation of our Adult Ballet I class that will have adult dancers furthering their ballet knowledge. They will start learning intermediate ballet terminology and movement combinations.
Adult Jazz (18yo+) - this class is designed for adults wishing to begin or continue jazz training. Students will focus on a whole body approach to jazz technique and practice a variety of body rhythms and beginner jazz movement. (NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED)
Adult Tap I (18yo+) - this class is designed for adults wishing to begin or continue tap training. Dancers will begin learning and practicing tap rhythms and be introduced to rhythm combinations. Dancers may learn about different tempos while exploring foundational tap steps. (NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED)
Adult Tap II (18yo+ and by placement) - this class is a continuation of our Adult Tap I class that will have adult dancers furthering their tap knowledge. Dancers may learn about different tempos, dynamics and syncopations while also discovering more tap skills.
Adult Hip Hop (18yo+) - this class is designed for adults wishing to begin or continue hip hop training and will build upon the hip hop dance foundation. Dancers focus on isolations, musicality, and use of different levels. (NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED)
EXTEND Company (Advanced Adults with extensive High School or Collegiate dance experience) - An experimental performance based company designed for adult dancers wanting to continue advanced level training after high school/college. Dance styles will include ballet, modern, jazz, and occasional experiences in tap, hip hop and MORE!
